Position Description
Job Title: Tool & Die Maker
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare tooling for production runs per production scheduling
- Perform routine maintenance of tools; i.e. sharpening, grinding, replace common tooling components
- Perform spot repairs of tooling when necessary; disassembles molds, jigs, tools, and fixtures, then reassembles when repaired.
- Set tooling in press for production when necessary
- Create fixturing for production purposes when necessary
- Troubleshoot tooling in and out of press when issues arise
- Create blueprints of existing tooling when needed (on paper with basic measuring tools)
Requirements:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Documented completion of tool makers apprenticeship/vocational training;
- Welding
- Basic metal fabrication
- Knowledge of common tool room equipment; i.e. surface grinders, lathes, breaks, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as: blueprints and complicated schematics as required to create and build new fixtures, tools, and machine parts; safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports.
- Must have own tools
- Autocad 2d a plus
- Basic computer knowledge a plus
- Able to lead apprentices and other journeymen.
Pay: Commensurate with experience
Work Week: Monday – Thursday 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM, possible overtime on Fridays and Saturdays
